Rocks+Trees+Mulch This hillside was just plain grass. It was dangerous to mow and a boring view. We transformed it to an easy maintenance beautiful terraced landscape in just two days! This is a project we designed and built last year. The client had a slope that came almost all the way to the back of the house. It made the yard completely unusable and created a serious drainage problem. We excavated hundreds of yards of soils and installed the retaining walls and patio space. We designed a large underground drainage system to take care of the water issue. Then we topped it all off with a pavilion and landscaping. Every detail was carefully planned and executed. Down to the perfect placement of the pavilion downspouts. Our clients are really enjoying this space and doing a great job maintaining it!

Our latest creation 🎨 is officially completed! We are so happy with how every detail turned out on this project. Stay tuned for some final photos. Stabilizing large Green Giant Arborvitae trees with stone. 🌲 We do this whenever we plant large trees. The stone helps us straighten them initially and then keeps the tree upright and plum going forward. If you’ve ever had to go back to a job and straighten a 42” rootball you get it. Anyone concerned about how this affects the roots. We’ve had nothing but great results doing this. My opinion is that by not doing this you’re risking having to shift a rootball later. That has a highly likely hood of damaging the ball. I think the risk of hurting the tree with a little gravel is exponentially smaller than straightening a tree that’s already been opened and planted. 🤷‍♂️

The name – J Squared – embodies our core values of Integrity, teamwork, and simplicity.

INTEGRITY: In the military, someone who is “squared away” is someone who has integrity, strong character and is properly trained. At J Squared, we believe in having a team that’s “squared away” and doing work that’s “squared away.”

TEAMWORK: Just as the name suggests, there is more than one J on the team. Since the beginning we’ve been firm believers in working together to make things happen more efficiently, faster, and smoother. About the Founder

“I started this business after 10+ years of working for other landscape contractors. I saw a need for a company that was transparent and put the customer first - a company that would communicate the vision clearly and present a proposal that was accurate. We do everything we can to plan projects thoroughly and avoid costly change orders during the project. When we show up to your project, we bring the proper equipment and a skilled team. We work quickly, efficiently, and with professionalism. I’ve seen many contractors draw projects out way too long. That drives me nuts. No one wants their project to take longer than it needs to and we ensure that it doesn’t.” - Jeremy

J Squared is owned and managed by Jeremy Swihart. At the age of fourteen, he started mowing lawns as a way to save for his first car. What began as the typical teenage solution for earning money morphed into a passion for crafting landscapes. Quickly realizing that he enjoyed providing quality service and beautiful landscapes for neighbors, he chose to pursue a career in the green industry.

After graduating from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Horticulture, he worked for several landscape companies gaining professional experience in project management and landscape design before starting his own business.

Jeremy continues to work with homeowners throughout South Dayton designing and building their dream landscapes. He lives in Centerville with his wife Carly and their three children. He’s an avid ice hockey player and enjoys boating during the summer.

Jeremy holds an Ohio Certified Nursery Technician Master Certification and is a National Concrete Masonry Association certified installer as well as a Unilock authorized contractor.
