drainage Systems
Poorly drained lawn areas and water sitting along your home's foundation are both big problems that can cause significant damage to your home’s value. Many drainage problems are caused by large impervious areas like roofs, driveways, and streets shedding high volumes of water to the wrong location. Likewise, the cause can be poor grading, heavy clay soils, compacted soils, natural springs, agricultural fields or upstream development. Regardless of the cause, drainage problems must be addressed.
J Squared will work with you to find the culprit of your drainage problem and develop a game plan. We help you make sense of the jargon and walk you through the options that fit your problem and budget. Below is a quick list (and definition) of the drainage solutions we offer:
French Drains - Ground water collection system used to relieve soggy areas in the lawn
Downspout Drains - We attach pipes to the bottom of your downspouts and run them underground to an appropriate outlet location
Catch Basins - Surface water collectors ranging in size from 4-inch diameter to a 2-foot square
Channel Drains - Long narrow surface water collectors that are typically installed in driveways and patios
Drywells - An underground detention area used to store large volumes of water until the soil can absorb it
Sump Pumps - Submersible pumps used to remove water from low lying areas
Re-Grading - Changing the surface topography to allow water to naturally flow where it should
Rain Gardens - A shallow depression positioned to catch storm water and planted with plants that thrive in wet soil
During installation, J Squared does everything we can to minimize unnecessary turf, landscape, and irrigation damage as well as avoid underground utilities. We tamp the trenches as we back-fill, remove excess soil from the site, finish grade the work area, plant grass seed, and repair any landscape or irrigation damage that may have occurred.
